Baku – APA. “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Model - an international educational program”, which has been successfully carried out in Azerbaijan for three years, will be restarted this week. The partners of the program, which will be implemented under the status “OIC Model – The Academy of International Relations”, are the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC), the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Baku State University.
ICYF-DC told APA that this program aims to support the strengthening of the youth’s international cooperation in OIC area and help the youth, who want to work in government structures and international organizations, master new skills and experience in the fields of management and communication technologies. More than 150 students of Baku universities, including Baku State University are participating in the program. Within 6 weeks, the students will obtain information on the history, structure and principles of OIC, conceptions on various global issues, as well as Islam and its role in social life and inter-civilization dialogue. OIC member states’ ambassadors accredited in Baku, representatives of diplomatic missions and leading experts of various international and legal organizations will deliver lectures on various topics.
In the simulation games, the working groups established by the youth from the OIC member states will discuss the urgent problems of international relations, the problems in OIC area, including the Nagorno Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and put forward concrete proposals for the settlement of the abovementioned problems. An annual final meeting on the outcomes of the discussions stimulating “OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Summit” will be held late in May and decision on the problems will be passed. The documents will also reflect proposals on the settlement of the conflict.
The winners of two-month course will be awarded at the “OIC Council of Foreign Minister Summit” and gain the right to participate in “OIC model” competitions to be held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, in July, 2013.
