The Azerbaijani Parliament told APA that the draft law can be developed and submitted for discussion basing on a group of MPs' initiatives and the request of several NGOs.
According to the draft law, taking of new preventive measures in fight against sexual freedom, sexual abuse and human trafficking of minors and adults, including prevention of prostitution-related diseases will be regulated in accordance with new standards. The draft law is expected to be submitted for discussion at the Azerbaijani Parliament this year.
Azerbaijan has no separate law in this field, in case of such actions only responsibility is determined under the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offences. Now the persons, who have caused the spread of prostitution-related diseases, are sent to treatment under relevant instructions of the Health Ministry. The new draft will also involve the other organizations in this process.
