The witnesses told APA that the statue was replaced by lifting equipment yesterday. The place is not known. The witnesses also said that the statue has been removed as it located in front of Baku White City Office Building under construction.
Khatai District Police Office told APA that the statue owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, has been removed by them: “As far as we know, the statue has been taken to Nizami district. We don’t know where the monument will be placed.”
APA was informed that the statue is expected to be placed outside one of the oil companies in Nizami district.
"The Baku Worker" statue, formerly called “The Worker” in Nobel Avenue was erected in the USSR period. It was one of the frequently visited statues of Baku in front of which ceremonies were held. The statue was relocated on the other side of the avenue.
