He said the results show that the majority of non-communicable diseases are related to risk factors such as tobacco consumption, overweight and malnutrition: “Tobacco consumption in the country is 22.9%, and its daily prevalence 21.3%. This prevalence is 100 times higher among men than women. Men are exposed to tobacco smoke mostly in public places (76.6%), women at home (41.2%). The ratio of drinkers among men (26.9%) is significantly higher than women (1.7%).”
The director noted that about 60% of population suffers from overweight in Azerbaijan: “Overweight is 35.8% and obesity is 21.9% in Azerbaijan. According to the survey, the number of women suffering from obesity is significantly more than men."
