Due to M-class and other flares occurring in several regions on the Sun, the level of solar activity has increased, the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University (BSU) told APA.
Spacecraft have observed coronal mass ejections headed for Earth.
Reported that on September 10-11, solar activity will be at M (R1-R2 - mild average) level and X (R3 - strong) with some probability.
Currently, the geomagnetic storm is moderate.
Starting around 17:00 on September 10, the geomagnetic storm will increase to G1 (mild) level, and will become G2 (moderate) on the night of September 10 and around 06:00 on the 11th. Starting around 13:00 on September 11, the geomagnetic field will drop to the normal background level.
A geomagnetic storm will be observed mostly at high geographical latitudes. It will be felt moderately in the middle latitudes.
