The 15th Gabala International Music Festival, organized at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, opened with an open-air ballet gala concert, APA reports.
The gala concert was attended by officials, cultural figures, and art lovers.
Leading soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre, the Bavarian State Ballet, the Vienna State Ballet, and the Dutch National Ballet performed excerpts from Ludwig Minkus' Don Quixote, Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Adolphe Adam's Giselle, and other renowned ballets.
Farhad Badalbeyli, Rector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, said the festival's main goal is to promote classical music to a wider audience.
The participants expressed their satisfaction with performing in Gabala and praised the high level of organization of the festival.
The festival will continue until August 3. The program includes performances by ensembles from Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Moldova, as well as chamber music and mugham concerts, concluding with a performance by the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
