The government of Germany intends to allocate two billion euros to regional authorities to support refugees from Ukraine, said Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, APA reports citing BB-CNTV.

After negotiations with the leaders of the governments of the federal states, the politician spoke as follows: “We will allocate a total amount of 2 billion euros this year. Of these, 500 million are earmarked for the local authorities to guarantee (financially) their additional expenses related to the accommodation (refugees).” Scholz’s words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

The head of the German capital, Franziska Giffay, stressed that half of the allocated funds will go to help minors, including education, integration courses and childcare.

As the Public News Service wrote earlier, the Embassy of the Russian Federation sent note to the German Foreign Ministry in connection with the appearance of Russophobic inscriptions on the memorial sites in Berlin.

Also recently Ukrainian refugees compared life in Germany with a concentration camp. So, one of the groups was settled in a basketball hall, which was separated by plastic tents.

It is estimated that about 60,000 Ukrainians live in the capital Berlin alone.

According to the latest figures from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 4.3 million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in neighboring countries since Russia launched military operations.

From February 24 to April 6, 2,514,504 refugees arrived in Poland, 662,751 in Romania, 404,021 in Hungary and 401,704 in Moldova.
