A press conference on grant competition “International Initiatives related to COP29” for NGOs was held Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic, APA reports.
At the event, it was emphasized that the competition was organized jointly with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations.
Umayra Taghiyeva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, briefed about the announced grant competition.
She said that the projects submitted to the competition will be assessed based on very strict criteria.
According to her, non-governmental organizations that have an obligation to the agency cannot participate in the competition:
“Works related to the 29th session of the UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan are ongoing. A competition has been announced as part of these works. For those who want to participate in this competition, more detailed information about the requirements can be obtained on the official website of both the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations. We believe that there will be a very serious interest in this competition in our country and this project will be a significant contribution to COP29."
Aygun Aliyeva, executive director of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations, said that those who want to participate in the announced competition can submit their documents starting tomorrow: “Upper limit of grant amount on Medium Grant Competition (MGC) will be 30000 AZN, upper limit of grant amount for Large Grant Competition (LGC) will be 50000 AZN. Non-governmental organizations should be represented by one local and one foreign NGO. Foreign organizations that want to be represented here must also submit relevant projects. Non-governmental organizations with uncompleted obligations to the NGO Agency cannot be represented in the competition. The list of documents required from non-governmental organizations which want to participate in the competition will be posted on the website of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations.”
In the end, the officials of both state institutions called on the interested parties to actively participate in the competition.
