International experts note that there are 1.5 million mines and ammunition in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, said Bahruz Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), during the discussion of the draft law "On Mine Action Activities" in the third reading at the meeting of the Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption Committee of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) today, APA reports.
He said that more than 70 percent of the incidents took place inside the contact line: "No mine cleaner can emphasize that a certain area is clean. Even in areas where delimitation and demarcation have been carried out, a shepherd has fallen into a mine."
