The HPV vaccine against cervical cancer will be free of charge in Azerbaijan in the near future, Dr. Hande Harmanci, the representative of the World Health Organization in Azerbaijan, said this in an interview with APA.
“We are aware that the Ministry of Health is working to include the HPV vaccine in the preventive vaccination schedule. We support this initiative of the Ministry of Health with all our resources. Because the HPV vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect women from cervical cancer,” she said.
Hande Harmanci noted that the Ministry of Health and WHO are interested in including this vaccine in the vaccination schedule.
It should be noted that the HPV vaccine, which has been used since 2006 against the human papillomavirus, which causes cervical cancer, has already been included in the preventive vaccination schedule in the vast majority of countries in the WHO European region. The vaccines included in the vaccination schedule are provided free of charge by the state.
