Fines for the illegal removal of national cultural heritage objects included in the list of protected cultural assets from the territory of Azerbaijan are being doubled, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses discussed at the joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committees on Law Policy and State Building and on Culture.
According to the draft amendments, for the illegal removal of national cultural heritage objects included in the list of protected cultural assets from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan:
- Individuals will be fined 3,000 manats,
- Officials will be fined 6,000 manats,
- Legal entities will be fined 20,000 manats.
Additionally, for relocating cultural assets included in the protected list without the approval of the relevant executive authority, as well as for carrying out construction, installation, restoration, reconstruction, conservation, or landscaping work that violates the inviolability of these assets or poses a threat to them, the penalties will also be:
- 3,000 manats for individuals,
- 6,000 manats for officials,
- 20,000 manats for legal entities.
Under the current Code, for the illegal removal of national cultural heritage objects included in the protected list from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, fines are:
- 1,500 manats for individuals,
- 3,000 manats for officials,
- 10,000 manats for legal entities.
For dismantling, destroying, fragmenting, restructuring, relocating, or altering the appearance of cultural assets with protected status without approval from the designated executive authority, the current fines are:
- 1,500 manats for individuals,
- 3,000 manats for officials,
- 10,000 manats for legal entities.
