"Creation of a new national park, covering part of the territories of districts liberated from occupation, is being revised," Firuddin Aliyev, Head of the Biodiversity Conservation Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan stated during a meeting of the working group on environmental issues, APA's correspondent dispatched to Khankandi reports.
He noted that the creation of a new national park spanning a total area of 92,656.2 hectares is under consideration, including parts of the administrative territories of Shusha (6043.7 ha), Khojaly (24824.4 ha), Aghdara (46606.7 ha), and Kalbajar (15181.4 ha) districts:
"Field inspections and assessments of the areas have begun in coordination with relevant state institutions. An initial map of the proposed national park has been prepared and submitted to the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan for feedback, taking into account the locations of residential areas," he added.
