20 September marks the Day of Khankandi, Khojaly, Khojavand, and Aghdara in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Under an order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on 18 September 2024, 20 September is officially observed as Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavend, and Aghdara Cities Day.
To ensure the provisions of the trilateral statement, prevent large-scale provocations committed in the Karabakh economic region, disarm and withdraw the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan's territories, neutralize their military infrastructure, ensure the safety of the civilian population returning to the liberated territories, as well as the civilian workers and military personnel involved in reconstruction and reconstruction work, and restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, local anti-terrorist measures were launched in the region on September 19, 2023.
Local anti-terror operations began in the region on 19 September 2023, around 1:00 PM, and concluded successfully, resulting in the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
On 28 September 2023, the so-called self-proclaimed entity in the Karabakh region announced its dissolution, formally ending the existence of the so-called “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.”
On October 15, 2023, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev raised the national flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the towns of Khankendi, Aghdara, Khojaly, Khojavand, as well as in the settlement of Askeran in Khojaly district, on the territory of the Sarsang reservoir.
