Azerbaijan determines penalties for organizing an early marriage of individuals under the age of 16, this was reflected in the new article - 176-2 proposed to the Criminal Code, which was discussed at today's session of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), APA reports.
According to the draft law, the parents of the person under the age of 16 or the parents of the other underage people who entered into a marriage or the persons responsible for bringing them up, or for arrangement of marriage by an adult who are entering into an early marriage will be punished by a fine from two thousand to three thousand manats or restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years or deprivation of liberty for a period of up to two years.
It was noted that the responsibility for the crime provided for in this article arises when the age difference between that person and the victim is more than five years.
The draft law was put to the vote and adopted in the third reading.
