Azerbaijan and the EU intend to conclude negotiations on a new agreement soon

On March 11, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi as part of his participation in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the region and the possible role of the EU in this regard, the Foreign Ministry told APA.

EU Commissioneri stressed the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe's energy security and the importance of energy cooperation in this regard.
The sides also exchanged views on the events in Ukraine and ways to overcome the crisis in the country.

At the same time, the parties expressed their intention to conclude negotiations on a new agreement as soon as possible, which will form the legal basis of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, noting the cooperation with the European Union and the important issues on the agenda.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
