Within the framework of the 4th International Mine Action Conference on “Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements,” held in Baku on 2 September 2026 jointly organized by ANAMA and the United Nations in Azerbaijan, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ANAMA and the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC), the regional mine action organization of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), APA reports.
The Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining was signed by Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of ANAMA, and Rothna But, Executive Director of ARMAC.
The document envisages the development of cooperation between the two institutions in the field of humanitarian demining, the expansion of experience and knowledge exchange, the sharing of best practices, and the promotion of joint activities in areas of mutual interest.
The signed document represents an important step toward expanding international cooperation in addressing Azerbaijan’s mine problem, as well as strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experience among mine action organizations operating in different regions.
