130,000 mulberry seedlings planted in Khojaly district as part of silk production project -PHOTO

In the 13-hectare mulberry orchard in the Dashbulag village of the Khojaly district, 130,000 seedlings imported from the People's Republic of China have been planted. A drip irrigation system has been established in the orchard, said Afat Telmangizi, head of the public relations department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, informed journalists, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.

Note that 100 tons of mulberry leaves are planned to be produced in 2026 and 500 tons in 2030. The projected cocoon production is 60 tons over 5 years starting next year. In October-November of this year, it is planned to implement a drip irrigation system on an additional 150 hectares of land and plant approximately 1.5 million mulberry seedlings, establish a mulberry orchard based on the cluster model, build greenhouses in the vicinity, feed silkworms, produce wet cocoons, and implement the product processing process. 25 people have been provided with permanent jobs here. 750 people will be involved in seasonal work.

Recall that on September 15, President Ilham Aliyev visited a mulberry orchard established on an area of 13 hectares in the Dashbulag village of the Khojaly district.
