Azerbaijan Women’s III Congress finishes

Baku. Laura Jabrayilli –APA. Azerbaijani Women’s III Congress has finished its work in Baku on Friday. Delegates from all regions of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of Turkey, Russia, Kuwait, Georgia, Lithuania, Jordan and UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women attended the congress, APA reports. Current situation of women movement in Azerbaijan and future duties have been discussed at the congress. Vice Speaker of Milli Majlis Bahar Muradova, Azerbaijan’s Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova, Head of the Student Admission State Commission Maleyka Abbaszadeh, academician Naila Valikhanli and female officials of the executive authorities delivered speeches at the congress. The participants talked with the representatives of different regions of Azerbaijan via live conferences and heard problems and cares of the women there.
The Azerbaijani Women’s III Congress adopted its resolution at the end, which supported the woman policy in Azerbaijan Republic and described measures to be carried out for appreciation of women’s role in the socio-political life of the country and extension of women’s representation in the government bodies. The congress participants addressed the President of Azerbaijan and expressed their support for his policy.
They addressed the international organizations too and demanded to increase women’s role in the settlement of the conflicts, to strengthen international cooperation for gender equality and peace-making processes.
