Azerbaijani Women’s III Congress to commence on Friday

Press Service of the State Committee for Families, Women and Children’s Problems told APA that nearly 2000 delegates would attend the congress.
28 delegates were invited from Egypt, Kuwait, Georgia, Russia, Turkey, Lithuania, USA, Jordan and Switzerland to attend the Azerbaijan Women’s Congress. First Lady of Egypt Susan Mubarak, Turkey’s Minister of Women and Families Issues Nimet Chubukchu, Chairwoman of US-Azerbaijan Society Tomris Azeri, State Secretary of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry Jurate Raquchiene and Secretary General of the Jordanian National Committee for Women Issues Esma Khader have already arrived in Baku. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili’s mother Giulli Alasania is also expected to visit Azerbaijan.
Current situation of women movement in Azerbaijan and future duties will be discussed and reports will be heard at the congress. Address to the President of Azerbaijan and international organizations, as well as final resolution will be adopted at the one-day congress.
Today 11.2% of members of the parliament, 39 % of public servicemen and 14 % of judges are the women in Azerbaijan. There are 3062 women PhD and 226 Doctor of Sciences in the country.
