“Two main factors stand behind the recent rising number of attacks of animals on human beings: rising number of wild animals and migration of animals to other parts of Azerbaijan due to Armenian arsons in the occupied territories. The migrated animals spread hydrophobia in the new area,” Yolchu Khanveli, head of press service of State Veterinary Service at Agriculture Ministry told APA. He said Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry is to take actions to eliminate the number of wild animals.
Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry sector director Sedaget Mammadova told APA that the outbreak of hydrophobia is not related to the increasing number of wild animals.
“The rising number of rare and extinct animals and birds are due to the enlarging area of natural reserves where they are previously preserved. It is possible that some animals migrate to other places due to the fires in the occupied territories. But rising number of wild animals has nothing to do with the outbreak of mad cow disease. This is a virus,” she said.
The sector director said the ministry is taking relevant measures after the Vet Service confirmed the mad cow disease. /APA/
