Azeri IDPs picket outside State Committee for Refugees and IDPs

The protesters said that they picket since State Border Service removes them from their buildings.
â€œWe are not reimbursed or provided with houses. We want the chairman of State Committee for Refugees and IDPs to receive us and solve our problems. We were offered to settle in Bakikhanov settlement in untenable place,â€ they said.
Protesting to their removal the IDPs tried to block the road in Tbilisi avenue but their action was prevented.
The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs told the APA that according to the presidentâ€™s executive order July 1, 2004 IDPs can not be removed from the places and administrative buildings where they settled in 1992-1998. They can only be removed if they are provided with houses having equal conditions. The building settled by IDPs had been an incomplete building of ophthalmologic hospital at the disposal of the Health Ministry.
According to the Cabinetâ€™s decision on April 25, 2005 the building was given to the State Border Service. /APA/
