Sattar Mehbaliyev: Coca-Cola executives do not make possible the organization of trade unions

We have been negotiating on the organization of the trade union since the establishment of Coca-Cola company. People working in Coca-Cola want the trade union to be organized, despite this the executives of the company are against such a propose. They scare people saying that they will be dismissed providing join the trade union.
Chairman of Trade Union Confederation Sattar Mehbaliyev told that analogical problems exist in BP as well.
â€œA secret survey conducted by our working group revealed that the majority of the workers of British Petroleum (BP) support the proposal on the trade union organization. Company executives protest against such a proposal having known that the workers would urge the solution of their problems more after trade union will be organized. This operation needs much money. That is why they do not go this wayâ€ he said.
Mr. Mehbaliyev underlined that Large Company executives have started to make more resistance to the organization of trade unions after amendments were made to the relevant legislation. â€œThe reason for this is that after amendments made to the law any company would need an agreement of Trade Union to dismiss workers. That is why the people working under such conditions should insist on the establishment of trade union organizations themselvesâ€
Mr. Mehbaliyev told that they are holding regular talks with companies in order to establish trade unions. He added that 50-60 trade unions were already established last year/APA/
