Azerbaijan prepares new state program for fight against drugs and drug addiction

According to the chairman, new program will be continuation of the state program, which will end this year and concrete measures will be noted there.

The chairman said that currently, according to the official statistic, about 26700 people are drug addicted and I think that the real figure is above it.

â€œIf we consider that a part of drug addicts avoid from the registration, of course the real figure is above itâ€, added the deputy prime minister.

Hasanov said that various state organizations have taken serious steps for fight against drug addiction in the country. According to him, half-tone drug substances were seized in Azerbaijan in 2011. About 350 ton wild plants with drug property were annihilated.

Hasanov also noted that considering the carried out regional projects in Azerbaijan in recent years and increasing number of tourists and volume of cargos it is needed to be engaged in this problem seriously.

Hasanov also expressed his displeasure that press and TV donâ€™t give place to the anti-drug measures. The chairman said that he has also addressed to the religious figures on it: â€œI told the religious figures that their representatives are always in mourning ceremony. Donâ€™t you speak about it there? It is not problem of different countries, but it is a problem of the world.â€
