Azerbaijani Education Ministry holds meeting with participation of rectors of higher schools

â€œWinter session of 2009-2010â€, â€œPresentation of the system determining the rating of the higher schoolsâ€, â€œImplementation of the State Program on the reforms in the higher education system of Azerbaijan Republic in 2009-2013â€, â€œGetting, keeping, filling, presenting and recording education certificates in the higher schoolsâ€ were discussed at the meeting. Education Minister Misir Mardanov said important progress had been made to ensure objectivity and transparency in terminal examinations and state examinations due to the establishment of Central Commission, Hotline in the ministry, appropriate commissions in higher schools, control of the examinations by the nongovernmental organizations and Education Ministry.

Misir Mardanov said the requirements of the credit system were sometimes violated, he gave recommendations to the rectors of the higher schools concerning it.

The Minister noted that all, who enter the higher schools, get education certificates, while only 70 percent of those studying abroad can get education certificates. According to Misir Mardanov, the ministry has been determining the rating of the higher schools for half a year. The rating will be based on three criteria. They will be determined basing on the potential of the higher school, activeness of the higher school, quality of education, recognition in the world.
