Signing ceremony of grant contracts for projects within framework of Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Program takes place

Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. On Friday, a signing ceremony of grant contracts for projects within framework of Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Program took place at the residence of Japan’s ambassador to Baku, APA reports. The eight grant contracts were signed at the ceremony. The contracts were signed from Japanese side by Ambassador Masamitsu Oki and from Azerbaijani side by the seven directors of NGOs and one head of regional Educational Department. Total amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for eight projects is USD 763,982.

The total number of projects implemented by the government of Japan in Azerbaijan including this time is 128, and the amount is USD 9,293,567, said Japan’s ambassador Masamitsu Oki. He reminded about his visit to Sheki region two years ago and said he witnessed how rivers were polluted there. “I was surprised. We decided to implement cleaning process there. I found Sheki like Kyoto”.

One of the projects is for Improvement of Rivers and Embankment in Ganjali and Dere Hamami Communities in Sheki City” is aimed at cleaning garbage from the river and keep Sheki city beautiful.

Another project is for Rehabilitation of School No. 1 in Second Nugadi village of Guba Region.
Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov said the government of Japan regularly implemented educational projects in Azerbaijan. He said very important steps were made by Azerbaijan and Japan in this field this year and Japanese language is taught in three secondary schools in Azerbaijan.
