Azerbaijan State Social Protection Fund hosts a delegation from Afghanistan

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. The State Social Protection Fund of Azerbaijan has today hosted a delegation from Afghanistan at a meeting attended by the World Bank experts.

Salim Muslimov, chairman of State Social Protection Fund, briefed the guests about the pension and insurance model, individual account and social policy in Azerbaijan.

He noted that SSPF has established its automated offices in 70 regions over the past six years.

Sanjeev Shrivastava, an expert from the World Bank, talked about the social insurance system of Afghanistan.
According to him, there is a $7.5 million project for social insurance system, social insurance services are used by 100 000 people, and 80% of pension benefits are provided by the government in Afghanistan.

In his words, Afghanistan has made changes to the legislation on social insurance in order to redouble pension benefits.

She emphasized that the World Bank shows Azerbaijan as an example to other countries, and Azerbaijan’s practice may be useful for Afghanistan.

Fazel Ahmed Bahmazi, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Afghanistan, said that his country is also planning to automate the social insurance system.

The delegation will get acquainted with information management system, individual account system, financial management system, legislation, social insurance collections and various district offices of the State Social Protection Fund until December 27.
