10-year activity, founding and development problems of municipalities discussed at roundtable

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. A roundtableon 10-year activity, founding and development problems of the municipalities took place in Baku. The event was organized by the Regional Development Center of Azerbaijan, APA reports. In his welcoming speech, Chairman of the Regional Development Center Chingiz Ismayilov emphasized the special importance of municipalities in the regional development policy carried out in the country. Ismayilov spoke about the details of the 10-year activity of Azerbaijani municipalities and said they conducted opinion polls in some regions to evaluate the working activity of the municipalities. Most of the respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the activity of municipalities. Ismayilov said some shortages were not lifted still, but he welcomed municipal land auctions began in 2009. He also emphasized the necessity of independent financial sources for improving of municipal activities, training of municipal workers and providing the municipalities with independent activity.
