President Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences: We admit our mistakes, but our scientists have also created serious fundamental works

He said draft decision would be passed in connection with the remarks made to the institutes of ANAS.
â€œThe directors of the institutes will be given two weeks to prepare their proposals on strengthening the activity of the institutes and submit to the Presidium. After that these proposals will be discussed at the meeting of the Presidium,â€ he said.

Mahmud Karimov said dismissal of the institute directors for the faults in their work was not being discussed yet.
â€œAccording to the rules, director is elected, when his term expires competition is announced. Directors of all institutes have read the article and agree to the remarks. But it does not mean that the directors will be dismissed. They should be given time. this issue is being seriously discussed now,â€ he said.

ANAS President said social and humanitarian sciences department of the academy was preparing an article covering the work done in the recent nine years. The article will be published next year.
â€œWe agree to the remarks and admit our mistakes, but the scientists of the academy have created serious fundamental works up to now,â€ he said.

Karimov said ANAS had prepared a collection of unexplored scientific themes important in terms of Azerbaijani statehood.
â€œUnfortunately, sometimes repeated and meaningless topics particularly in the field of social and humanitarian sciences have been worked out. Last year, ANAS Presidium passed a decision to discuss the topics of the dissertation in the problem boards of the institutes. Only new valuable themes should be given to the authors. Earlier, themes of the dissertations were given in the institutes, the Presidium was unaware of the themes. From now on the opinion of the Presidium will be taken into account. We offer to determine through accreditation which institute will realize admission for doctorate level. We will likely apply this rule after confirming the rules concerning the doctorate level. Only the institutes having potential must realize admission to doctorate level,â€ he said.
