Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society holds its 23rd general assembly

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan held its 23rd general assembly dedicated to the past year results, APA reports. The Society elected new General assembly, Governing Council and Presidium, as well as members of relevant commissions. President of the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan Novruz Aslanov evaluated the Societyâ€™s activity in the reporting period successful. Azerbaijani parliament adopted law on the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan in the past period. There are 265 000 members and more than 16 000 volunteers in the Society now. More than 15 000 became members of the RCS over the past year. It has offices in all regions of Azerbaijan.

RCS executive secretary Beyler Talibov said the organization rendered humanitarian assistance amount of 17405 AZN to 117 families which suffered from different disasters. 2753 lonely old and ill people, as well as poor families and orphans received foods and clothes. 1919 people used blood bank in the past 10 months and 3050 people became voluntary blood donors. Talibov said the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies asked the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan to carry out project for preparation against the pandemic. Azerbaijan RCS elaborated humanitarian preparation project against the pandemic. The project was carried out in 11 regional offices of the Society. Red Crescent local staff members and volunteers were instructed against the pandemic. The Society sponsored construction of four secure courts for the children in the frontline regions to protect the children from the mines and other unexploded devices.
