Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev - APA-ECONOMICS. The Employment Service under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has today held a job fair in Baku.

841 employers based in Baku offered about 6 564 vacancies (openings) of which 5 314 in the private sector.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natig Mammadov said that in total 17 600 vacancies have been offered and 6 000 were filled by jobseekers during 55 job fairs since early this year.

"About 850 businesses and organizations offer openings at this fair. The fair attracts great interest of people,â€ he added.

Natig Mammadov said that employment agencies received more than 38 000 jobless applications, up 3500 from the same period last year. The employment agencies provided employment to 23 000 people,â€ he added.

Salary ranges from AZN 200 (nearly $250) to 1500 (nearly $1 900) for jobs offered at the two-day fair.

2 181 companies offered 17 626 vacancies during 55 job fairs during January-December.

5 801 people found employment, 545 people were sent to job retraining and 419 were offered paid public works.
