Baku hosts 6th International Junior Science Olympiad - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

More than 600 students under 15 from 45 countries are participating in the Olympiad on physics, chemistry and biology. The event is supported by the government of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, IJSO (International Junior Science Olympiad) and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO good will ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva’s letter was read out at the event. Independent Azerbaijan has become a place of international cultural, scientific and sport events for long years. “It is notable that the International Junior Science Olympiad takes place in Baku. It is gladdening that 2009 Year of Children is finalized with such event because just juniors will help us to implement our plans for future”.

Minister of Sport and Youth Azad Rahimov said the event is held by special order of the President. “It shows how careful the authorities are and at the same time it will contribute to the good education”.

Azad Rahimov said multi-choice-questionnaires (MCQ), theoretical tests experimental tasks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology had been prepared by the Scientific Committee set up with participation of 30 Azerbaijani experts. The Scientific Committee has held about 30 meetings up to now. Six trips have been prepared for the students, their teachers and observers, so that they can familiarize with Azerbaijan’s history and culture.

Hafiz Pashayev, Deputy Foreign Minister, rector of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, head of the Scientific Committee of the 6th International Junior Science Olympiad, said such Olympiads strengthen relations among the countries. According to him, great investments are made into science, education and development of the youth in Azerbaijan.
