Monthly pension benefit accounts for 34% of monthly salary in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. As of October 1, the number of pensioners reached 1 298 900 or 15% of the population in Azerbaijan, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to the official statistics, 65% of pensioners receive pension benefits for age, 24% for disability and 11% for death of head of household.

The average monthly pension benefit increased 5% year-on-year to AZN 99.93 or 34% of average monthly salary in the country.

The State Social Protection Fund spent AZN 1 169.9 million on pensions and allowances during January-July.
Of this, AZN 1 135.8 million was paid to population as pension benefits and AZN 33.8 million as allowances.
