Maleyka Abbaszadeh: â€œAzerbaijani society knows the singers, but it doesnâ€™t know students enrolled in universities with higher pointsâ€¦â€

Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. â€œNearly 110 thousand applicants attended preliminary examinations for universities in academic year 2009-2010. 996 of them reached higher results gaining above 600 pointsâ€, said chairwoman of the State Committee for Student Admission Maleyka Abbaszadeh at the presentation of 11th Abiturient issue dedicated to the students gaining above 600 points, APA reports. She said there were students from all cities and regions of the country, including rural schools, who reached higher results at the preliminary examinations.

670 of them graduated from the urban schools and 326 from the regional and rural schools. 4 students, who gained above 600 points, enrolled in Heydar Aliyev Academy under Ministry of National Security and 6 â€“ in Police Academy. Others enrolled in civil higher education centers, including 164 students â€“ technical and natural sciences, 218 â€“ economics, 391 â€“ humanitarian sciences, 223- medicine.

Two students gained maximum points â€“ 700. Both of them enrolled in humanitarian schools. Four students enrolled in Turkeyâ€™s Gulhane Military Medical Academy. 102 students were presented for Presidential Scholarship.

29 of them enrolled in Public Administration Academy under the President of Azerbaijan Republic, 25 â€“ Azerbaijan Medical University, 18 â€“ Baku State University, 12 â€“ Caucasian University, 9 â€“ Azerbaijan Oil Academy, 6 â€“ Azerbaijan University of Economics, 2- Caspian University, one â€“ Nakhchivan State University.

Abbaszadeh criticized the newspapers that they donâ€™t pay enough attention for popularization of excellent students. â€œThese young people should be presented to the society and essays should be dedicated to them. Azerbaijani society has quite enough information about the singers, sportsmen and their private lives, but it doesnâ€™t know students who enrolled in universities with higher results and who are main intellectual potential of the countryâ€, she said.
