United Nations Population Fund starts sessions on gender based violence awareness raising

Baku – APA. Combating Gender Based Violence project (CGBV) implemented under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)/Azerbaijan Program has started sessions on gender based violence awareness raising. UNFPA representation in Azerbaijan told APA that the sessions will be held in November-January and cover three target groups (girls aged 13-18, boys aged 18-26 and teachers). The sessions will raise awareness of 1800 people on general gender issues, gender sensitivity, gender based discrimination and gender based violence.

The sessions will cover Baku and Sumgayit cities, Masalli, Lankaran, Astara, Shaki, Gakh, Zagatala, Balakan, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shirvan and Shamakhy regions. Much attention will be paid to the participation of groups in need of special care (refugees, IDPs, persons with disabilities, children deprived of parental care).
