Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan plans to increase the basic pension and perform indexation in the case of inflation in 2010, said Salim Muslimov, Chairman of the State Social Protection Fund.

According to him, some CIS countries are unable to raise pension benefits as a result of devaluation of their national currencies against the backdrop of economic crisis, and the cost of benefits has dropped remarkably there.

"The home currency exchange rate remained at a stable level in Azerbaijan and pensions and other benefits didn’t lose their value", he added.

According to him, due to changes in legislation the minimum pensions of citizens who will get retired in 2010, will be AZN 90, and the average pension for newly retired recently ones will be about AZN 150.

The minimum pension is AZN 75, average is AZN 105 at present.
