Above 1700 tons of drug confiscated in Azerbaijan in nine months

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. â€œAbove 1700 tons of narcotic drug was confiscated in Azerbaijan in the past nine months. The State Anti-Drug Commission will liquidate the narcotics next monthâ€, said chief of the commissionâ€™s working group Araz Aliguliyev, APA reports. He said drug usersâ€™ age has gradually become younger. â€œThis is a process going over the world. The main problem in the world and Azerbaijan is a majority of marihuana users. In most cases, marihuana users begin to use harder drugs. They are using heroin, breaching ethic rules and committing crimes, which creates tensions in the societyâ€.
Aliguliyev said the drug addict dispensary was using new methods for treatment of drug users. â€œBy the order of the State Commissionâ€™s chairman Ali Hasanov. A working group was established to intensify use of new methods of treatment. The working group is reviewing the draft of national anti-drug strategy in Azerbaijan and preparing its proposals concerning thatâ€.
