Fuzuli Alakbarov: About 153,000 people receive targeted social assistance in Azerbaijan

Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “824,000 jobs have been created in Azerbaijan in the past six years, minimum wage has been increased by 8.3 times, average monthly salary by 3.8 times, average pensions by 3.8 times, average social allowance by 2.2 times, GDP per capita by 5 times. As a result of these measures, the poverty dropped from 49 percent to 13.2 percent in Azerbaijan,” Minister of Labor and Social Protection Fuzuli Alakbarov said at the National Conference on Child Welfare Reform in Azerbaijan, APA reports. The Minister said about 153,000 people receive targeted social assistance in Azerbaijan. On average AZN 107 is paid to each family.
“90 percent of them are families with children. 45.2 percent of them are families having three or more children. Due to the application of the targeted social assistance system, poverty reduced by 20 percent among the families having many children within three years,” he said.
Fuzuli Alakbarov said the ministry prepared the draft State Program “Social rehabilitation of low-income families in 2010-2013”.
