This is already the fifth Small Reconstruction Project (SRP-5) recently implemented by Counterpart International’s CHAP/Azerbaijan staff through partnership and financial support of the U.S. Department of State under the “Small Reconstruction Projects” initiative. The project was approved and funded in the amount of $12,000 by the U.S. Department of State plus $7,209 in-kind donation from the beneficiary toward its final implementation.

The project’s main objective was to construct the new 72 ton capacity tank. In order to build the tank the pit will be made: 600 cm length, 400 cm width, and 200 cm depth. The tank will be 200 cm under ground level, and the visible part will be 120 cm above the ground level. It must be made this way to avoid water from freezing in winter and also for other safeguards. The tank will be a centerpiece of water system that will provide water to 80 local people, 250 students and employees of the secondary school, 10 medical staff and patients of the Medical Center which was built by Counterpart in 2007.

Chief of the Executive Committee of Gedebey region Mr. Kamran Rzazade said: “I think that Duz-Rasullu Water Tank answers all modern standard requirements and plays an important role in provision of services to the population of our region”.

CHAP has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1997.
