Aida Imanguliyeva â€“ 70 International Symposium takes place in Baku - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. International Ibn al-Arabi Symposium â€œEast and West: Common Spiritual Values, Scientific-Cultural Linksâ€ dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Aida Imanguliyeva was held in Baku.

In his opening speech and welcome address, the president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Mahmud Kerimov said common spiritual values of East and West united in Azerbaijan. He mentioned common features of 12th century Arab nationalist Ibn al-Arabiâ€™s ideas and Wetsren philosophy. â€œIbn Al-Arabiâ€™s heritage is always topical because it forces people to thinkâ€. Kerimov highly appreciated the Aida Imanguliyevaâ€™s contribution to the development of oriental studies.

Rector of Baku Branch of Moscow State University, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva spoke about the life and scientific activity of her mother. She said Imanguliyeva was first woman professor in the field of oriental studies. â€œShe has the Eastâ€™s spirit and Westâ€™s intellectâ€.

Chairman of Ibn al-Arabi Society Drenwill Collins, Russian Academician Alexander Kudelin, Chairman of Azerbaijan Union of Writers Anar, Secretary General of Parliament Assembly of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Mahmud Erol Kilic and others spoke about the Aida Imanguliyevaâ€™s scientific heritage. They called Azerbaijan a country uniting the Western values with Eastern mentality.
