334 AIDS patients recorded in south region of Azerbaijan

Lankaran. Ageddin Babayev â€“ APA. 19 HIV/AIDS patients were recorded in Lankaran within the past nine months of 2009, the number of AIDS patients reached 181, chief of HIV-AIDS diagnostics lab of Lankaran Hygiene and Epidemiology Center Ramiali Ibishov told APAâ€™s local bureau. He said the first patient was recorded by the lab in November 1999 and 83 more HIV carriers were recorded in 2000-2006. Within two years and nine months the number of AIDS patients reached 181. 334 AIDS patients have been recorded in region, 181 of them are in Lankaran, 65 in Astara, 61 in Masalli, 20 in Jalilabad, 4 in Lerik and 3 in Yardimli. Ibishov said 4 AIDS patients died in Lankaran within nine months this year, 28 AIDS patients died in the past ten years.
