Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-Economics. Elderly people account for 28% of the pensioners in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) public relations officer Elman Babayev said at a commemoration of October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.
Under the law, citizens of the Azerbaijan as well as foreign citizens, and stateless persons who temporarily live in the country aged above 70 are considered older persons, he added.
Babayev said 365 467 people older than 70 years who receive retirement pensions account for 28 of all pensioners in the country.
According to him, the Azerbaijani government attaches special care to the elderly.
