Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of Emergency Situations conducts exercise - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. The Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted Caspian 2009 field exercise on Friday. According to APA, firefighting brigades of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Civil Defense Troops, Special Risk Rescuers, Sea Rescue services and other organizations participated at the trainings.

The exercise was started with staged fire covered onshore terminal pipeline and several buildings. MES helicopters, technical equipments and rescuers were involved in the prevention of fire.

Then staged explosion and fire occurred in the offshore platform. MES firefighting boats, Be-200 amphibian plane, as well as rescue boats and helicopters were sent to the site

The Ministry of Emergency Situations used four motor boats, two ships, one plane, four helicopters, firefighting vehicles and other modern equipments in the exercise. Emergency ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSECO) member countries also watched the trainings.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan Kemaleddin Heydarov told journalists that he positively appreciated the exercise. The minister said it was difficult to use old methods for prevention of industrial disasters on the sea. â€œWe have modern technical equipments and well-trained rescuers for prevention of any industrial disaster on the seaâ€, said the minister.
