Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Pope Francis sees Azerbaijan as a tolerant country, Ordinary of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Roman Catholic Church in Azerbaijan Vladimir Fekete told reporters in Baku Sept. 14.
Pope Francis met with Azerbaijan’s president and his wife in Vatican in March 2016, Fekete recalled.
“The pontiff’s visit to Baku is scheduled for 2016, which was declared in Azerbaijan the year of multiculturalism,” he said. “In Azerbaijan the Pope will meet with representatives of all religions.”
Pope Francis is due to visit Azerbaijan on Oct. 2.
