Azerbaijan to ban foreigners, stateless persons from leading Islamic rituals

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Foreigners and stateless persons will be disallowed carrying out Islamic rites in Azerbaijan and will face penalties for this.

 

Amendments are proposed to the Article 168-1.1 of the Criminal Code in this respect, the parliament told APA.

 

According to the amendment, along with those studied abroad, foreigners and stateless persons are not allowed to carry out Islamic rituals in Azerbaijan. For violation of this paragraph, those persons will be fined from 2,000 up to 5,000 manats or will face imprisonment for a term of 1 year.

 

The draft law will tabled at the parliament’s upcoming session.
