Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Calls by some political forces in Azerbaijan for religious adherents to take part in protest rallies on the eve of referendum on constitutional amendments are nothing but a provocation against the state, said a statement of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO).
“This is contrary to the laws of Azerbaijan "On political parties" and "On Freedom of Assembly”, said the statement.
“According to these laws, clerics subject to the authority of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) and other representatives are disallowed from membership of any political party and from joining any political organization. In case any CMO representative takes part in the aforementioned political events or protests, their action will be deemed violation of the law and the necessary actions will be taken against them,” the statement said.
