Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. “The mosque in Murtuza Mukhtarov street, 190, was built illegally and should be knocked down,” head of legal department of Yasamal district executive office Saida Gulubayova told APA. She said that cost sheet should be prepared for constructing any building.
“Architecture and Town Planning Department of Baku Mayor’s Office should be appealed, cost sheets confirmed and only after that permission should be given to construction. The person, who built a mosque in that territory, did not do it. He had no permission to build a mosque,” she said.
Saida Gulubayova said Valeh Movsumov was warned when he began to build illegal mosque, but he ignored it.

Valeh Movsumov, who built “Peygemberimiz Mahammadin Mescidi” in Murtuza Mukhtarov Street, 190, also commented on the happenings. He told APA that he established Yasamal District Religious Community in 2006 and registered it the same year.
“When the community was registered, nonresidential area in Murtuza Mukhtarov, 190 was shown as its legal address,” he said.

Movsumov said that he had decided to build a mosque in that territory and appealed to Baku Mayor’s office.
“I was allowed to carry out reconstruction in my property and I built a mosque there,” he said.

Movsumov also confessed that he possessed 9 sq m area of Azerbaijan State Economic University while building the mosque.
“Minaret of the mosque was built there,” he said.

Movsumov noted that when the suit of Yasamal district executive power to knock down the mosque was granted, he decided to devolve his mosque on the government.
