Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh: â€œHigh-level group of religious leaders may be set up under UNESCO Director Generalâ€

Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh attended the religious leadersâ€™ meeting on the realization of the idea of dialogue with the UN in Moscow. APA reports that Allahshukur Pashazadeh held a press conference on the results of the meeting. He said it was the second discussion on the realization of the idea covered in the final document of Moscow summit of the worldâ€™s religious leaders in 2006.
â€œAs you know the summit attended by about 200 representatives of 49 countries was initiated by Alexy II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and me. The participants of the summit stated unanimously that it was important for the worldâ€™s religious leaders to act in collaboration with the international organizations, especially with the UN while solving the global problems. And the realization of this idea will help to use the potential of the world religions in combating all kinds of force, aggression and injustice,â€ he said.

Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office said during the recent discussions it was initiated to set up a group of religious leaders under UNESCO Director General.
â€œThis initiative is in line with the UNESCO 2008-2013 strategy on intercultural dialogue in education, science, culture, communication and means of information. The participants sent a letter to UNESCO Director General KoÃ¯chiro Matsuura in connection with this. As agreed with UNESCO Director General, it is planned to set up the high-level group in Paris late in January,â€ he said.
