Gunduz Ismayilov: â€œSome people try to mislead public opinion around Abu Bakr mosqueâ€

Baku. Elnur Mammadliâ€“APA. â€œSome people try to mislead public opinion around Abu Bakr mosque. Sometimes unserious people express ideas far from the facts and ethics, which creates mistaken opinion in the societyâ€, official of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations (SCWRA) Gunduz Ismayilov told APA speaking about the ideas Narimanov District believersâ€™ lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov addressed to SCWRA and its Chairman Hidayat Orujov. The committee official said there were unlawful points in some of the last publications by the lawyer. â€œA man, introducing himself as a representative of the religious community, is publishing subjective accusations far from the law and ethics, even slanders and libels. Naturally tolerant attitude to the false and abnormal ideas of unserious people is an acceptable condition in the democratic society where freedom of speech is the main criterion. In fact it is meaningless to restrict or ban activity of such people, because it is impossible to make someone to think above his ethics. We are stating that groundless and unethical ideas of that person, published in the press against the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations and its Chairman Hidayat Orujov, are not an indication of his level only. We are telling Javanshir Suleymanov that Hidayat Orujov is always expressing his ideas clearly and reasonably. If he considers himself as a lawyer, he should know that insulting other people is contrary to the lawâ€.

Suleymanov told APA that Ismayilovâ€™s words are groundless and the committee officials try to distract attention from the main goal. â€œWe appealed to the court and hearings are held there. I say again that officials of this committee do not know what they say. They threaten me to leave this work. Their speeches at the court differ from each otherâ€.

Javanshir Suleymanov told the press that he would go to the law against SCWRA chairman Hidayat Orujov. Suleymanov said Orujov changed his opinion every day and used the phrase â€œthis man doesnâ€™t know what he saysâ€.
