APA’s local bureau reports that it is banned to hold “Seven-day mourning” and “Mourning Thursdays” for dead people in Ujar, all the mullahs in the region are told not to attend these mourning ceremonies. The mullahs, who violate these rules for the first time, are fined AZN 80 and for the second time AZN 240. The mullahs, who do not obey the rules, are banned to lead funeral ceremonies at all.

Rumors spread in the region that the new rules were approved by the parliament.

Akhund of Ujar region Haji Alasgar Majidov confirmed the fact to APA and said the rule had been approved after consulting with the local religious men.
“I asked the local people to hold mourning ceremonies for three days. We do not want people to suffer more in the mourning ceremonies. The local residents agreed to our proposal. Only “Three-day mourning” and “Forty-day mourning” ceremonies are held in Ujar now,” he said.

Akhund said the reports that the mullahs violating the rule will be fined are not true.
“Decision on fining mullahs has not been made yet,” he said.

Press service of Caucasus Muslims Office told APA that the office had not given a related instruction about it.
