Caucasian Muslims Board condemns burning of Koran in Afghanistan by US servicemen

The statement says that one of the most unpleasant features of the modern globalizing world is that religion is chosen as the target of insult. Since this is particularly against Islam and Koran, we regard such facts as violation or peace, blow on the dialogue among religions and nations.

The statement says that racist and aggressive attitude towards Muslims in the events in the Middle East can not be justified.
â€œSacred places are bombed, civilians undergo terrorist attacks while performing namaz, attending festivities and funerals, Koran has become target for servicemen, our holy book is burned, every day bitter news come from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Muslim countries. All this reduces our societyâ€™s hopes for humanism, justice, equality and brotherhood, stirs up religious, national conflicts.

Last year the pressure and demands of the world community neutralized the American pastorâ€™s threats to burn Koran, this time it was committed by servicemen in the Muslim country â€“ Afghanistan. This caused rage of Muslims, it aims to stir up clashes among civilizations. How could the American servicemen saying â€œGod is with us!â€, having in mind â€œfreedomâ€ and â€œdemocracyâ€ do it?! We regard such actions as religious intolerance, ideological provocation, demand similar attitude from all bodies.

We positively assess the apology of the US President and other officials and prayed so that such provocations do not happen in future. Caucasian Muslims Board calls on all people, irrespective of their nationality, religion, believing in the triumph of justice in the world, to express protest against religious intolerance. We are sure that our call will be regarded properly and serve stability in the region. Our position is the manifestation of the will and fair claim of all the Muslims of the Caucasus.
